Advantage Flea Control For Dogs And Cats
Advantage flea control products were introduced by Bayer corporation
over eight years ago, to help both dogs and
cats suffering from flea infestation issues.
Advantage stops fleas from biting in minutes and starts killing
them within an hour of application. Applied monthly as a topical, advantage is a non-prescription
flea killer product containing imidacloprid, which is engineered to kill fleas specifically.

The Benefits Of Using Advantage Products
Advantage kills fleas in
both the adult and larvae development stages and in the pet's surrounding area too. By also working against
the larvae in the pet's environment, advantage helps to eliminate any existing flea
infestations in the environment, as well as, prevent the development
of any new infestation by breaking the life cycle of the flea.
This helps prevent the need for additional environmental insecticides such as environmental
foggers, sprays, or insect growth regulators. According to the manufacturer, advantage
flea control can be used on puppies and kittens too, after seven weeks of age. Advantage
flea is effective against fleas but it is not designed to kill, repel, or prevent ticks.

Advantage, New Advantage Multi and K9 Advantix Compared
All advantage products contain the ingredient imidacloprid to repel fleas,
all are produced by Bayer, and all are applied topically, monthly and
all of them are water resistant. However, k9 advantix contains an additional ingredient,
permethrin, that the other advantage products do not have.
The ingredient permethrin in advantix works in combination
with the imidacloprid to control fleas, as well as, ticks and mosquitoes too.
However, it is important to note here that Advantix should never be used on
cats, as a matter of fact it should not even be used on dogs if there is a chance that a cat may lick or groom that canine.
This is because advantix contains ingredients that a cat's unique physiology cannot tolerate.
However, Advantage
and Advantage Multi are an alternative available in both canine and feline varieties.
Advantage Multi has an additional ingredient to control heartworms that the other two products do not.
