Constipation in Dog - Home Remedy Idea

Looking for a natural alternative to your dog constipation. How about this constipation dog home remedy idea. We've been told by our vet that canned pumpkin often works well (that's "pure" canned pumpkin, not the spiced Pumpkin Pie Filling Mix). We found others on the web who recommended it too. Pumpkin is high fiber and has a high water content, both help to keep dogs regular.

pumpkin, a good constipation remedy
Dogs apparently love the taste of it too and it doesn't take much to work. However, we found that advice regarding the amount given varied somewhat across the internet. One site we found recommended about 1 to 2 tsp. a day for dogs under 15 lbs, 1 to 2 tbs. per day for dogs between 15 and 35 pounds and 2 to 5 tbs. per day for larger dogs. Since too much could make the problem worse, it's best to start with smaller amounts, see how that goes and then increase the dog constipation home remedy accordingly.
As always, we advise visiting with your veterinarian regarding any remedy as to it's effect on your specific pet before treatment. They'll probably have the best idea on the proper dosage for your dog too.

Always Visit With Your Veterinarian First

It's important to buy the right health products for your specific pet's special needs. Pet medicines can also have certain risks and side effects that you need to discuss thoroughly with your Veterinarian before you decide which meds to buy. Buying pet medications online is a great way to save money & add a little convenience to your busy life. However, it is not meant to be a replacement for visiting your local veterinarian to obtain advice and prescriptions suited to your pet's specific medications needs.
