Constipation in Dog - Home Remedy Idea
Looking for a natural alternative to your dog constipation.
How about this constipation dog home remedy idea.
We've been told by our vet that canned pumpkin often works well
(that's "pure" canned pumpkin,
not the
spiced Pumpkin Pie Filling Mix). We found others on
the web who recommended it too. Pumpkin is high fiber and has a high water content,
both help to keep dogs regular.
Dogs apparently love the taste of it too and it doesn't take much to work. However, we
found that advice regarding the amount given varied somewhat across the internet.
One site we found recommended about 1 to 2 tsp. a day for dogs under 15 lbs, 1 to 2 tbs. per day for
dogs between 15 and 35 pounds and 2 to 5 tbs. per day for larger dogs. Since too much could
make the problem worse, it's best to
start with smaller amounts, see how that goes and then increase the dog constipation home remedy accordingly.
As always, we advise visiting
with your veterinarian regarding any remedy as to it's effect on your specific pet
before treatment. They'll probably have the best idea on the proper dosage for your dog too.
