Ketoconazole Meds - A Wide Variety Of Uses
Ketoconazole, often misspelled ketokonazole, is an antifungal medication available in tablet,
shampoo and cleansing forms. Ketoconazole is
often prescribed for yeast and fungal conditions, but, is sometimes prescribed to treat
canine cushing's disease
in dogs as well, due to its effect on the production of cortisone within the body. Also, ketoconazole
is sometimes prescribed to treat a variety of body infections including those of the skin, bone, lymph node
and respiratory tract. Nizoral is a brand name variety of ketoconazole and is commonly found in popular human athlete's foot meds.
Due to its anti fungal properties, ketoconazole is present in other medicated products too, including the prescription required
KetoChlor Shampoo, T8 Keto pet skin and ear cleanser, several MalaKet pet health products and ketoconazole Fish Fungus medicine.

Ketoconazole Side Effects And Considerations
Ketoconazole use should be taken seriously as there are several possible side effects including blood
disorders and liver toxicity. Drug interaction issues may also be an issue depending upon the other
meds your pet is currently on.
Ketoconazole meds are prescribed for a variety of animals including dogs, birds, reptiles, rabbits, ferrets, even fish.
However, it is believed to have a potential for toxicity in cats and is therefore not readily prescribed for feline use.
